Anyone have any experience with Rick Steves tour to and?I've used his Europe Through The Back Door strategies for independent travel to many times, along with TA input. Chose this as our very first group tour (May) 'cuz it's a short trip & we speak NO Spanish.The 8-day itinerary is a bit pricey, but otherwise sounds right for a trial tour. Reservation process thru 'Tour Dept' a bit impersonal, general answers to questions, but hard to nail down exact hotel accommodation details, options, etc., (eg: preference for spouse's special sleeping accommodation, which Tour Dept is aware of). Thinking of calling hotel direct for specifics.
Guess I'm so used to do-it-yourself travel with help from TA, I'm nervous about 'glitches' re: room accommodations.Few glowing comments on the web site (selective?); but interested in TA contributors' experiences/comments about their tour arrangements, what's promised, what's delivered, etc. Anyway, the die is cast, non-refundable, so just looking for any TA 1st-hand info re: this tour - to be ready for 'surprises.' Cathy, I agree with what you wrote.
But, as I wrote in my query, we're already booked, non-refundable. I merely want some TA feedback about this actual tour service and what we might do to prepare for any uncertainties.

I.e., is it reasonable to call the hotel ahead, one-on-one to ensure that what we've requested thru the tour personnel is available, and if there's anything they can do to accommodate the special request, etc. I mean when planning my own travel, this always works, so I'm strongly tempted to make a personal attempt toward what we need. Im planning a self -guided auto trip for spain and portugal.max. 4 wk(2 per)any suggestions welcome.!!
