If I remember correctly, the guy in Shadow in the Dark (1986) never killed anyone, but the feeling amongst the detectives was he was moving closer and closer to the people in the home and the fear was he was eventually going to kill someone.With that being said, you bring up a very good point. They really took liberties with situations like this throughout the series.
