I HAVE A VIZIO LCD FLAT SCREEN TV THAT SHUTS ITSELF OFF. Sometimes It Shuts Off At Short Intervals, Sometimes It Runs For Hours Without Shutting Off. Any Suggestions? Is there any solution other than calling a service repair person? It is off warranty.MyL37 hdtv is 2 yrs old and it shuts down randomly. After turning it back on it sometime runs all day with no problem Tech had me unplug the unit for 1.5 minutes, plug back in use the menu botton, go toll tolls and hit reset all settings. I did this but it still shuts down several times a dayAny help will be appreciated.joereham1@comcast.net 772 344 2651JOE.

We are having the same problem as are hundreds of others from what I can see by visiting a bunch of other internet sites. After a few days of shutting itself off randomly the TV finally dies. Our TV is only 3 years old. Most of the other people's TVs were 2-3 years old. Many people mentioned it might be the power supply board on the back. This was a problem with all sizes of the Vizio TV's.

I'm going to go to Vizio's support site and see if they have any answers ( or a recall!) TV's should last longer than 2-3 years. There may be some components failing in the power supply or one of the circuit boards that are causing too high a current pull.I realize that this answer is very vague.

Without doing proper diagnostics, it is impossible to guess at something like this.Out of warranty repairs on these sets can be very expensive. I would suggest that if the set is going to be expensive to service, it would be best to replace it with a known brand name that offers an extended warranty with local service. You will pay more, but you will have dependability and better quality.Jerry G.Posted on Jan 02, 2009. I bought my Vizio 50' E-300i-B3-i Smart TV in early December 2014 and have had continuous problems with it turning off at various intervals and when I use the Youtube app (pre-installed on TV), the TV freezes and I have to unplug:( Target refuses help as I'm out of their 30 day return policy.

Vizio Tv Wont Turn On No Light

Vizio refuses to intervene & have Target refund my $$'s or swap out for a different/comparable NEW TV. When I first called Vizio, first thing they asked was if I bought the extended warranty & to email them my sales receipt. Vizio phone tech had me reset signal components and do various tests to no avail - still freezing and still shutting off. Vizio is only offering me: 1) To send a Vizio-certified local TV technician to my home & have TV opened up and a circuit board swapped or 2) They'll exchange my TV for a 'Recertified' upgrade M Series RV (can you say Bait-And-Switch!?). Vizio says most their 'Recertified' TV's were overstock orders (by Costco, Walmart etc) but they cannot guarantee the TV was not bought/returned or repaired/returned.

Vizio smart TVs are awesome entertainment devices, capable of displaying amazing resolution and brilliant color and adding a layer of software that gives access to features undreamed of back in the early days of TV. However, all that power and all those features come at a price: because a smart TV is running a lot of software on top of the regular functions of a display device, that creates opportunities for bugs and errors to creep in and for problems to develop. Vizio smart TVs are known to develop issues such as:Also see our article. The TV not turning on, or flashing different color screens.

Lines appearing at random through the center of the image. The display on the TV not working. The TV keeps turning itself off and on at random. The smart functions stop working.Fortunately, there is a fairly easy fix for most of these problems: just reset the device. Vizio smart TVs, like most electronic devices these days, have two reset modes: soft reset and hard reset.A soft reset is easy: just switch the device off, leave it off for a few seconds, and turn it back on again. This clears the memory, allows any residual charge to dissipate, and restarts the device, all of which combines to fix a large percentage of device problems. (There’s a reason the first advice any technical support person gives is to turn it off and turn it back on again.) After a soft reset, the permanent settings on the device will remain intact.

Unfortunately, so will any issues that are more persistent than just a temporary fault.A hard reset is more serious. Not only does it do everything a soft reset does, it will reset the firmware or configuration of the device to their factory defaults, clear the memory, and reset the device entirely. A hard reset is basically the same as going back in time to when you first took the Vizio smart TV out of the box.If a device is misbehaving or showing errors, a soft reset will usually fix it.

If it doesn’t, sometimes a hard reset will. The downside is that you then have to reconfigure and set the TV up all over again. When to Use a Hard ResetA hard reset of a Vizio smart TV will wipe all configurations and settings. It will remove all account details for any smart apps, reset network data, and trigger a firmware update if one is available.

You should always do a soft reset first to see if that resolves the issues you are having with your TV.If the TV is still having issues after the soft reset, a hard reset will return it to factory settings. It forces the TV to wipe the configuration and replace all files with default files from the cache. It will be like you first unboxed it when you got it home from the store.A hard reset of a Vizio smart TV is known to fix:.
