The links unfortunately didn't help. Some of which were to technical for me. I again downloaded the Windows Update Fix it program ( WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab)with the same result ie. The Setup program fails to run. I tried booting from the DVD I created from the Windows ISO file (Windows 10 Home 64-bit) and this time the PC booted usingWindows 10 and appeared to be upgrading my PC. However when prompted for my Windows Product Key it failed with the message of 'This product key didn't work. Please check it and try again.
' I'm unable to find the product key on the PC nor anywhere on theASUS packaging that I mostly kept. I did obtain what I believe is the Windows 8 product key using 'WinKeyFinder' and carefully entered it a number of times with the same result ie. 'Thisproduct key didn't work. Please check it and try again.' Is this the root cause of the issue? The version of Windows 8 installed by ASUS isn't valid???????????????
This may be why the Windows 10 download fails and the Setup.exe stops as in both cases theprograms are validating the Product Key as the first step and simply fall over. The Product ID is Windows 8.1 64-bit - can this be checked by Microsoft toconfirm it is valid and can be upgraded to Windows 10. Thanks in advance for your further assistance.

Thanks in advance for your further assistance. Why are u using/relying on 3rd parties to answer questions about your products? Why are u taking advantage of them without pay? Why don't u make a decent product to begin with? I just bought an Azuz r417n which I will have to return-unusable!
It seemedto be working OK with win10 1703 until u started forced updates. Then I can't uninstall your updates (not allowed). Was suggested by Asus to install win 1709, but now the computer is so slow and unworkable I can't even do that.
Is it possible to download andinstall an earlier version like 160X? I bought the Asus to replace the HP I recently bought which I don't like and also uses win10 1603, I believe. Both computers freeze very often when typing or clicking/scrolling/moving the mouse. Not nearly as bad on theHP. I'm sending this on the HP which I had to get out of the box. Is this because u are trying to force me to use internet explorer or to use McAfee?

You are a very crooked shady company. How dare you treat the public like this??? Its become extremely difficultto find anything on new computers. Nothing is intuitive anymore which shows how abjectly stupid u people are.
